Professor Bernard F. Laya obtained his medical education at the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, Missouri and St. Luke’s Medical Center College of Medicine –William H. Quasha Memorial, Philippines. He underwent Diagnostic Radiology Residency at the Ohio University, Grandview Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, and Pediatric Radiology Fellowship at the combined program of the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital and Children’s Medical Center of Cincinnati in Ohio, USA. He also has a Master in Hospital Management Degree obtained from Emilio Aguinaldo College, Philippines.
Prof. Laya is the Section Head of Pediatric Radiology at St. Luke’s Medical Center-Quezon City and the Assistant Dean for Research and Scholarly work of St. Luke’s Medical Center College of Medicine-William H. Quasha Memorial. He is the Founding President of the Philippine Society for Pediatric Radiology and former Head of the Institute of Radiology of St. Luke’s Medical Center-Global City (2009-2019). He authored or co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles, written chapters for 7 pediatric radiology textbooks, and co-edited the Pediatric Thoracic Imaging Textbook.
Prof. Laya is an internationally recognized expert in pediatric radiology and a sought after speaker. For his academic achievements and international leadership, he was bestowed the “Society for Pediatric Radiology Honorary Member Award of 2016” at the International Pediatric Radiology Congress in Chicago, Illinois, USA.
