Miss Yoyo Yiu is a pediatric speech therapist from the Hong Kong Children’s Hospital (HKCH) who specializes in managing swallowing and communication disorders in children. She started working with oncological patients in Queen Mary Hospital, later developed interest in pediatric brain tumor and with her master degree research project done on this area. Along with the centralization of pediatric oncology services to the HKCH, clinically Yoyo promotes standardized speech and swallowing outcome measures along with rehabilitation for this population – with objective instrumental assessments including the use of fluoroscopy. Collaboration with radiology in fluoroscopy extends to other patient groups including children with craniofacial abnormalities such as cleft palate. Related works were presented in local and overseas scientific conferences to share with radiology professionals and speech therapists.
